Oboe Studio Class
Studio classes provide a unique opportunity to explore foundational concepts and challenges that benefit the entire oboe studio. Some principles and techniques are best addressed in a group setting, where collaborative discussions, demonstrations, and shared experiences deepen understanding. Each year, we revisit core material, allowing you to engage with these principles from new perspectives as your skills and comprehension grow—a dynamic learning spiral that yields fresh insights and practical applications in your playing.

Class Format

These classes feature a combination of lectures, demonstrations, student performances, guided discussions, and presentations on essential topics such as playing fundamentals, orchestral excerpts, effective goal-setting, practice techniques, and organizational strategies. Students will prepare assigned orchestral excerpts to perform in class, complete marked parts, and submit study notes for the repertoire covered. By working together in a supportive environment, studio class will help you refine your skills, gain confidence, and connect your learning to both practice and performance.
